About Performance Training

Your training program will be 100% customized to you. When it comes to developing a strength or movement program, most people think about how many sets or reps. At JBodyworks, we instead think about your overall program from the Motor Learning Development Model:

Overall, we’re looking at how many repetitions it takes a client or athlete to move from initially learning the movement, to being able to do the movement as second nature.

Cognitive phase

This is where you’re learning the movements, where your brain and body are working together to figure it out

You’ve developed facility and strength within the movements

Associative phase

You’re owning the movement completely – this is when it becomes second nature

Autonomous phase

Your development depends on your movement history: Someone who's been an athlete their entire life may move through the cognitive phase rather quickly. And depending on their goals, and the associative phase we may bring in some more traditional programming which allows for better strength development or speed development  or overall stability.
